"Connections explores an "Alternative View of Change" that rejects the conventional linear and teleological view of historical progress. Burke contends that one cannot consider the development of any particular piece of the modern world in isolation. Rather, the entire gestalt of the modern world is the result of a web of interconnected events, each one consisting of a person or group acting for reasons of their own motivations (e.g., profit, curiosity, religion) with no concept of the final, modern result to which the actions of either them or their contemporaries would lead. After weeks of work, I was finally able to pull together every episode of this amazing documentary series. The video quality is definitely not consistent, but as far as I know this is the only complete series collection that isn't a dead torrent.

This is one of my favorite shows of all time. Enjoy!

Subject: A MUST watch for everyone

Inspired my profound interest in science and history, MANY moons ago, when I first saw it when it first played on PBS. It inspires a person to see the world in a new way much deeper way. From the money in your pocket to the phone in your home. Right a lot of people don't have those anymore. (OK, its an old show but even now its relevant) You know should now inspire new thinking, sure it goes to the (landline or party line or pay) phone, draw your own connection to that thing your reading this on now.

Thank you SO much for uploading this series- I have been looking for these, as a whole, for ages. Only bits and clips, never enough! I remember seeing them on our local public television station as a much younger person, and never left my mind.

I forgot how good this series was when I watched some of it in the 1970's when I was in my late teens. Actually, watching the first two episodes of season 1 now, at age 62, I find them to be even better!

Subject: Burke is visionary

I've been looking for a specific episode of James Burke for decades! Downloading now - I will find it. Especially looking forward to watching the whole series, some episodes for the first time. OMG this is bringing back so many memories - if you missed a show on broadcast, chances are you'd never see it. Don't worry about the picture quality - it's got to be better than the 240 lines or whatever on that early color TV my dad bought in the 70's. Thank you, thank you thank you.

Subject: A Must-Watch program

I first stumbled onto this in 1985, when a friend of mine intoduced me to the first episode of Season 1 (all that existed at the time), which he'd recorded on VHS.
To say I was instantaneously hooked would be a MASSIVE understatement.
At the end of the episode, I was uncharacteristically quiet, digesting all I had just seen; he asked me what I thought.
"I think you need to tell me where I can see the rest of this!", was my response.
This is THE BEST program that not nearly enough people know about.
It is such a different & refreshing take on History, and how Science & Technology have evolved over the course of same, that it is utterly enthralling. I first showed it to my daughter when she was 16, and her reaction was similar to mine.

Subject: This program should be MANDATORY!

Thank you very much for uploading this show. In the first season we see a great many things now that our host most distinctly warned us about!
Otherwise he makes many silly, but worthwhile, puns, and manages to lead us through so much that we would otherwise have never known about if Mr. Burke did not do so much studying for us.
I am so grateful that I lived in a generation when this kind of pursuance was so obviously important.
James Burke has inspired me to create productions that show the interconnections amongst us all. Long may the producers of this series live and have an enjoyable livelihood! Thank you!
